BEHRI in collaboration with Vision Care Foundation and AKM Abu Taher Foundation arranged the operations on Thursday.
Supervised by Prof Dr Md Saleh Ahmed, Director of BEHRI, ophthalmologists Dr Rubina Akter and Dr Mozumder Golam Rabbi and Dr Tasruba Shahnaz conducted the surgeries.
Of the operated patients, 25 were male and 19 female, sources at the hospital said.
Talking to journalists, Prof Dr Md Saleh Ahmed said the cost-free operations are aimed at helping the poor and destitute patients.
Daylong eye camps are arranged at various parts of the country to provide patients with treatments, medicines and glasses for free, he said.
The patients requiring surgeries are selected from the people come to the camp to receive treatment, he added.
Prof Saleh mentioned that Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute operated more than 2,600 patients so far.
On July 14 last, 1,600 people received treatment at eye camp on the premises of Aganagar High School at Haripur village in Barura upazila of Cumilla. The 44 patients belong to 341 selected for operations in that camp.
